Blatter And The Money Making Factory!

Sepp Blatter the Swiss born FIFA president has been in the eye of the media for several weeks. The weeks approaching the important World Cup meetings where it would be announced where the next two tournaments would take place where filled with positivity and great hope for the World Cup to return to its routes and Sepp Blatter was one of many councils who hinted at its return over competitors such as Russia and Spain-Portugal. Therfore as usual our media jumped on the bandwagon and played on these hints and rumors of a return which in my opinion where right to do so. However the media was first to hit out at the FIFA organization when the shock selection of Russia was pulled out of the envelope which would shatter David Beckham and co.’s hopes. I for one am not the greatest FIFA fan although whilst the debating was taking place I choose to take a seat at the back of the raging football fanatics. However I think the time has come for me to hit out at such critics!
Starting from the birth of Sepp Blatter’s reign it is no surprise that this allocation of the historical tournament was filled with bribery allegations. He was elected as FIFA president in 1998 which stirred rumors of conspiracy allegations however his re election in 2002 sparked new allegations of bribery brought by Farra Ado, vice-president of the Confederation of African Football and president of the Somali Football Federation, who claimed to have been offered $100,000 to vote for Blatter in 1998. Amid the controversy a 30 page document was publicized by a protege of Mr Blatter, Michel Zen-Ruffinen who hit out at the financial management of the organization. The document contained a section about a marketing partner of FIFA’s which had collapsed under Sepp Blatter’s management and had suffered losses of 100 million. This sparked a internal investigation amongst the organization and Sepp Blatter yet it was halted by the man himself because of alleged confidentiality allegations. Michel Zen-Ruffinen was removed form office, how strange?
So far we have seen this man’s conspiracy around becoming the FIFA president, now we should look at his incapability of actually doing his job. The 2006 World Cup played host to a record breaking match between Portugal and Holland were the referee gave 16 yellow cards and 4 red cards. Sepp Blatter hit out at the referee and spoke of his disappointing performance however to later agree to apologize to the referee in person for his unprofessionalism. This never took place and neither did any further action. This suggests that he only attempts to defend his positions image yet when it comes to actually making changes or rehabilitating the situation he is found scarce from his word.
The man has also proved to cower out of situations that don’t suit him or affect his position such as his absence from the prize ceremony of the 2006 World Cup because Italy won instead of France which he attempted to defend himself by claiming he was frightened of getting whistled, either way Sepp it doesn’t look good for you! The 2010 World Cup sparked more mishaps for FIFA as the re-opening of goal line tecnology was introduced due to the famous Lampard goal against Germany however again Blatter had nothing to add. However would the decision differ if it involved his beloved France such as how he publicly laughed at Ireland officials when they appealed to FIFA over the hand ball scandal they suffered at the hands of France. Again evidence of Blatter’s favourism for money (France being the bigger nation) over football (Ireland the cheated better footballing team on the occasion).
Why are we surprised? This man has sparked only dark times for football and the latest scandal is not his first. Is there any wonder he and his friends have gone against the grain by choosing the Racist and terribly run country over a country with the best grounds and leagues in the world? This man claims to act for the benefit for football? What gives him the right to come up with such rubbish? How can a man who has never played football possibly know what’s right or wrong for football? I’ll leave you with this, the one qualification he has got is a Business degree, and he’s dam good at it when it comes to making money for himself at the expense of our beautiful game!
